Katherine,
Best of luck with the book tour. We are thrilled for you. Debbie has already read “Beautiful” and was wowed. It truly struck a chord with her. Perhaps you should have your loving husband Emcee your signing sessions. It would be entertaining if not appropriate. We really are excited about your success and the book was amazing.
Best,
Mike
I went to L.A. for the last book! (Which is how I became BFFs with Ben Affleck.) So now it’s out to new pastures. But I love L.A. and I will find a way to get back there sometime!
Katherine…..just finished your book in a day and a half, with a few distractions. I triple loved it. Glad that you gave Ben a copy. Maybe he will give it to Jennifer. Can’t wait for your next one.
my friend tracey clark has insisted i come to your seattle event tomorrow but i’m so disappointed that i have another conflicting commitment. if, by any chance, you are here again for if you are available another time, i’d love to meet you
i love your book “Everyone is beautiful”!
I heard you speak at the Pi Kappa Phi Banquet at University of Houston. I’m so glad i bought your book that night! When you read the last paragraph, i was so moved. I told everyone i know how funny and great your book is. i cant wait to read bright side. Thanks for a great story.
I read The Bright Side of Disaster and devoured it in two days. I just started Everyone is Beautiful and I am almost done with it. Thank you for writing and please write more. I hope you make it to Albany, NY for a book signing.
I live in NY, which doesn’t appear on your blog tour. Will you be at BlogHer? I’d love to meet you and maybe get my book signed! (there, this was the annoying fan comment of the day )

I was in your workshop at Inprint in the Spring of 08. I love, love, love your writing! I want to write but feel stuck as to where to begin. I need advice. What are merits of going back to school (MFA at UH) vs continuing on with workshops / informal classes? I also got to hear you read in Houston this spring. Keep writing. You have a gift.

I read your book “The Bright Side of Disaster” a few weeks ago and then “Everyone is Beautiful” just this morning. I live in the Houston area and wonder when you will be reading there again. Also, I’ve been writing my own manuscript (brilliantly mediocre, I might add) but that old demon, self-sabotage, is hounding me. I keep thinking it would be impossible to even get an agent, without a college degree to speak of. Give it to me straight, do I even have a chance if I don’t have a MFA and/or an agent? Thanks in advance,
You do NOT need an MFA or even a college degree to get a book published. All that matters is that you write a great book that catches the eye of an agent who’ll believe in you and agree to take you on. I think writing is mostly self-taught, anyway. You DO need an agent, though, to sell your manuscript for you–unless you choose to self-publish. But the most important thing is that you work on your writing and your manuscript until it’s really the very best it can possibly be. Do not go looking for an agent until you have totally outdone yourself!!
