it’s Monday, so that must mean: Writing Wednesday!

I’ve seen enough rambling homemade videos on YouTube to know it’s important to keep these Writing Wednesday clips short.  I’m shooting for 2-3 minutes, and even 3 feels a little long.

But it is hard to cover very much into 2 minutes.  Sometimes they seem to raise more questions than they answer.

But maybe that’s a good thing.

Heres a quick one that answers Anne’s question (from the comments) about whether I worry, with all this conserving I do of syllables, about the writing getting too spare.

Feel free to add your questions about writing below, and I’ll try my best to answer them (in 2 minutes) (or maybe in 10-part 2-minute miniseries).  But also feel free to ask any questions that the videos themselves bring up.  I’ll be happy to clarify or expand in subsequent ones!

  1. I love your video! This is the first one I’ve watched, and I think it’s a great idea. You did it very well. I look forward to hearing more of your writing tips.

Loving your Writing Wednesdays…especially on a Friday or even on a Monday!

You mention here that you “write quickly” does that mean that you have your entire novel in your head before you start? Or do you have the plot and characters in mind, but find that both develop as the writing progresses?

Sometimes I’m on a writing jag and think what I’m writing is brilliant. But then I go back and read it later and think it sucks. I get all disheartened about writing. I still have the urge to write, but the urge is muddied by my feelings: “Oh, I can’t write anything good, anyway. Oh, poor me. Why bother?” I wondered if anything like this happens to you and how do you deal with it?

  4. I’m late checking in to listen to your response to my question that you so kindly (and succinctly) addressed.

Your instincts seem to respect today’s readers. We’ve never been the same since Hemingway, have we?

I enjoyed the video and will try to catch up–you’ve kept them short, of course, so it should only take a few minutes!
