writing wednesday: life with kids

Here’s a Writing Wednesday about life with kids.  The question comes up over and over:  How do you do both?  How do you get it all done as a mother and a writer?  And almost every mother with little kids I know struggles with some version of this question.  How do you get it all done?  How do you take proper care of your children and yourself?  (And here’s a spoiler for the video:  I have no idea.)

  1. It’s comforting to know that there is no master writing plan when you have children.

You have to figure out what works for you and your kids. Which is will change day to day or week to week. Just when I think I have my schedule with Amelia (2 1/2 yrs) and Tyler (14 yr step-son) they spin it around and upside down. Kind of comical.

So there’s really no way to make a schedule, I think the sooner one learns this the easier it will be for each of us to make our time to write doable (is that even a word?) and it’s about quality rather than quantity with children and writing!

    Thank you for the post!

  2. There is no good answer… but I am always searching for one nonetheless. With my son about to turn 4, I’ve had to bite the bullet, be patient and wait until after dark (and his bedtime) to write and do my thing. There is something to be said about anticipating what you love to do. Absence makes the heart grow fonder? Yes, I think so!

    Nice post – thanks!
